SAXS elucidates:
- overall particle shape;
- quaternary structure;
- conformational changes (e.g. on ligand binding);
- complex formation;
- oligomerization behaviour;
- influence of buffer conditions/temperature;
- assembly and folding;
- flexibility of fragments or entire structures;
- interparticle interactions;
- particle size distributions.
Suitable samples
Monodisperse or moderately polydisperse solutions of
- proteins,
- RNA, DNA,
- macromolecular complexes,
- nanoparticles,
- colloids,
- gels.
Required: about 0.5 mg of purified material at concentration ~0.5-5 mg/ml.
